2007 buick lacrosse review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. A more athletic mid-size from buick. introductionlacrosse is the buick of mid-size sedans. Its styling is sophisticated and modern, yet conservative. Inside is a rich, high-quality cabin with attractive woodgrain trim, nicely presented instruments and controls, and available leather seats with nice-looking gathered stitching.  what owners of recent buicks might not expect is the way lacrosse drives. Its steering is more precise, and it turns into corners crisply, with little body lean. In short, it handles quite impressively on winding mountain roads where it's capable of keeping up with any of the imported mid-size cars. Its v6 engines offer good power, growling under acceleration, but motoring along smoothly and quietly on the freeway. Abs and side-curtain airbags come standard.  for 2007, buick lacrosse benefits from revised trim and equipment upgrades, including a standard tire-pressure monitor and available turn-by-turn navigation from onstar. Otherwise, it's largely unchanged from 2006. lineupthe '07 buick lacrosse comes in three models. The base cx and the more luxurious cxl are powered by buick's veteran 3. 8-liter overhead-valve v6, rated at 200 horsepower. The performance-oriented cxs comes instead with a 3. 6-liter v6 with modern double overhead camshafts and variable valve timing; although slightly smaller in displacement, it develops 240 horsepower.  cx 22,230) comes with cloth upholstery, manually operated air conditioning, tilt wheel, six-way power driver's seat, programmable power locks with remote keyless entry, power windows and mirrors, theater-style interior light dimming, leather-wrapped shift knob, and a six-speaker am/fm/cd sound system. All models also come standard with onstar hardware and a one-year subscription to onstar service. For '07, a tire-pressure monitor has been added to the standard-equipment list as well.  cxl 24,645), features leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, power lumbar adjustment for the driver's seat, a split-folding rear bench seat, driver information center, and content theft alarm.  cxs 26,860) comes with thicker anti-roll bars front and rear, and 17-inch wheels and tires to go with the more powerful v6. Cxs also boasts additional touches like driving lights under the front bumper.  five- or six-passenger seating is available. Optional safety features include park assist and stabilitrak electronic stability control. walkaroundthe '07 lacrosse is unmistakably a buick, with its trademark vertical-bar waterfall grille, long nose, long slopes and simple body curves. A tiny third side window behind the c-pillar adds some visual interest, while at the rear, a discernible dent in the decklid ties the taillamps together and recalls the more adventurous surface development that characterized buicks of the early 1960s. A single, slender chrome spear decorates the doors. Xm satellite radio shares a single antenna with the standard onstar system.  cx models can be identified by a grained, graphite-color finish on the rocker panels underneath the doors, while this panel is body color on cxl and cxs. Otherwise, the base cx has almost no decoration at all, beyond the bolt-on faux alloy covers for its 16-inch steel wheels.  construction quality looks good. Body, door, and fender gaps on the lacrosse are all noticeably smaller than on the previous regal and century models. And lacrosse's headlamps are said to be 35-percent brighter.    to improve crash safety and reduce noise, buick used generous amounts of expensive, high-strength steel, including steel reinforcements in the rocker panels, high-strength steel door beams, and a double-thick quiet steel floor pan and firewall. There's also an interlocking door latch system, a magnesium cross beam behind the instrument panel, another cross beam behind the rear seats, and structural foam in the front fenders. interiorthe cabin is roomy and comfortable and exudes a general look of quality. The standard front bucket seats, clad in leather in the cxl and cxs, feature a new type of stitching, and newly developed silk-impregnated vinyl on the seat side panels emulates the look and feel of leather.  a six-seat option trades the front bucket seats for a bench seat and column shifter. The seat has a flip-and-fold center back cushion that can be converted into a spacious center console/armrest with a large storage bin and dual cup holders.  rear-seat legroom is generous, thanks to a relatively long wheelbase of 110. 5 inches. We found that a 6-foot, 4-inch passenger can sit behind a 6-foot, 4-inch driver with plenty of room to spare.  interior quality and appearance are enhanced by reducing the number of individual trim pieces, which makes everything fit better and gives the cabin a richer, higher-grade look. Each of the three round instrument dials is wringed in chrome and set into a deeply tunneled instrument panel. Instrument graphics have been revised for '07, with red pointers and a more no-nonsense look; and the traditional buick tri-shield emblem has been added to the steering wheel center. It's all very nicely presented, and relatively sporty looking.  the center stack is finished a mica-flecked flat black, with a trip computer and driver information system that's easy to put through its menu. However, the information panel is so glossy that it's hard to read in early morning or late afternoon light. Quiet tuning uses specially engineered parts and adds sound insulation in the engine, on the firewall, under the toeboard, inside the wheel wells and in the roof. Buick's quiet tuning has made lacrosse one of the quietest cars in the class.  optional features upgrade this car to a cut above, making for a truly complete, safe, all-weather family car. Among them are a remote starting system that will work from up to 500 feet away; onstar; xm satellite radio; and stabilitrak. The chassis is nicely tuned and balanced. This is no mushmobile. Both of the available v6 engines have been tuned to give a nice, healthy growl on full throttle, but disappear into the background in high-gear cruising.  the standard 3. 8-liter engine that comes on the cx and cxl is smooth and quiet and is rated 30 miles per gallon on the highway. This is an older cast-iron v6, but it's been thoroughly upgraded internally to reduce mechanical noise and features electronic throttle control. It's rated at 200 horsepower at 5200 rpm, and 230 pound-feet of torque at 4000.  the newer 3. 6-liter v6 that comes on the cxs revs more freely and produces more power despite its smaller size: 240 horsepower at 6000 rpm. Its torque curve is also flatter, peaking with 225 pound-feet at 2000 rpm, but delivering 90 percent of that peak between 1500 and 6000 rpm. Mash the gas pedal and she goes.

2003 ford explorer review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The modern american wagon. introductionthe ford explorer is one of the best sport-utilities in its class. A stiffer frame and a fully independent suspension provide superior ride and handling on road and off road. Its v6 was revised last year and a v8 was added as an option. Both are available with a superb five-speed automatic. It's roomy, capable of seating seven people when equipped with the optional third row that folds flat into the cargo floor when not being used.  for 2003, ford added more standard equipment and important new options. Xls and xlt come standard with cloth upholstery; eddie bauer and limited come trimmed in leather.  an overhead-cam v6 engine is standard on all models. An overhead-cam v8 800) is an option for all models except the xls. Ford's new five-speed automatic transmission 1095) is optional and we highly recommend it. Xls comes a high level of standard equipment, including a new am/fm/cassette/cd stereo, but it does not offer some of the high-zoot options available on the other models, including the v8. An $1150 sport group for the xls adds the premium center console, step bars, body-color metallic wheel lip moldings, and 16-inch aluminum wheels.  xlt 28,745) gets nicer sport cloth upholstery, a six-way power driver's seat, body-colored exterior trim, and more luxury features, such as a temperature gauge and compass, map lights and dome lights, outside approach lighting, extra power outlets, and an illuminated keypad for keyless entry. The five-speed automatic transmission is standard, and aluminum alloy wheels replace steel wheels. New for 2003 are a chrome grille and black-grain outside door handles. Leather upholstery with a six-way power driver's seat is available for $655. Six-way adjustable heated power seats with dual manual lumbar supports are used in front, and the driver's seat has a three-position memory feature. The top two explorer models differ only in their distinctive trim: eddie bauer comes with arizona beige bumpers, moldings, lower bodyside cladding, satin-nickel wheels and grille, and p245/65r17 all-terrain tires. Limited uses monochromatic bumpers, moldings and cladding with a silver grille and unique wheels; the limited model is available in white pearl-coat paint with frost accents.  options for all models except xls include third-row seating 670), auxiliary air conditioning 610), running boards 395), power adjustable pedals 120), reverse sensing system 255), and power moonroof 800). The canopy also promises improved side-impact protection by staying inflated for a much longer period of time. Ford has done a great deal of research on this technology and we strongly recommend ordering the safety canopy. Dual front airbags are standard, and feature smart technology that adjusts their inflation rate according to the severity of the accident. Anti-lock brakes (abs) are standard on all models; abs allows the driver to brake and steer at the same time in a panic stop. Seatbelts use retractors and pre-tensioners designed to reduce injuries in a hard crash. This newest explorer achieved a 4-star driver/5-star front-passenger ratings in the government's national highway traffic safety administration front crash tests. walkaroundthe current ford explorer is the same length overall as the pre-2002 models, but it rides on a longer wheelbase (by 2 inches) and a much wider track. Pushing the wheels out toward the corners makes the explorer more stable and more comfortable. All new last year, this explorer shares only its name with the pre-2002 models involved in the firestone tire recall.  the explorer's styling is fresh, contemporary. It looks solid and handsome. Smoothly integrated front and rear fascia are used in place of the traditional bumper treatments. Jeweled headlamps and tail lamps give it a sophisticated look. Yet this newly designed explorer clearly evokes the previous-generation explorer. No one will have trouble identifying it. Few will notice it at all. I dropped something next to the curb while getting out of the explorer one dark night; hitting the button on the key fob illuminated the approach lights and i immediately spotted it. Uplevel models come standard with an illuminated keypad on the door for keyless entry. The keypad doesn't improve the appearance of the explorer, but ford says it's a popular feature among loyal owners.  the standard roof rack is designed to support up to 200 pounds. For messier cargo, there's a new nbx package 1110), which includes a yakima multi-use loadwarrior cargo basket, special black exterior trim, special seat cloth, and 17-inch machined aluminum wheels mounted with b. Goodrich rugged trail t/a p245/65r17 tires. interiorthe ford explorer is a comfortable vehicle on long trips. Convenience features abound that make it pleasant while driving and when stopping. The eddie bauer model comes with the traditional beige steering wheel and pinhole leather seating material. Handsome gray wood accents lend a luxurious appearance. Light-colored trim on the inside a-pillars and grab handle add to a light, airy atmosphere. It's a successful execution, though the mouse-fur roof liner is nothing to write home about. We found the cloth seats in the xlt comfortable, firm and supportive, with lots of adjustments.  adjustable pedals, a telescoping steering wheel and long seat travel help the explorer fit a wide variety of body types. Big coat hooks accommodate thick hangers and big loads of dry cleaning, something few manufacturers get right. Nicely designed cubby holes with rubber mats provide space for wallet, sunglasses, a pen, cans, and bottles. A relatively large center console keep odds and ends in check. Interior door handles seem a bit awkward at first, but that went away with familiarization. Map pockets on the insides of the doors are handy and swell at the end to hold water bottles, but wouldn't accommodate my one-liter bottle from poland springs. The front power outlet was positioned well for a cell phone, but like most, was a bit of a reach for a radar detector. The trip computer came in handy, calculating the distance to an empty fuel tank.  the front seats are comfortable. They are wider and offer more fore-and-aft travel than before. Seat heaters are part of the eddie bauer way of living. But the buttons that control them are mounted on the sides of seats, which is a bit awkward. Reaching down to the side of the driver's seat, the left hand is confronted with an array of seat adjusters; finding and pressing the seat-heater button is a challenge. Likewise, it isn't always easy to find the height adjuster. But rake is easy to adjust, and there's a knob on the up-level seats for cranking in some lumbar support.  the second row of seats, the row we recommend for those who didn't get to drive or sit up front, is quite comfortable. Though quite capable as a tow vehicle and able to venture off the highway, most Explorers, like most SUVs, spend their entire lives shuttling people and performing the duties station wagons performed when Baby Boomers were growing up. Ford sells more than 400,000 Explorers a year, making it the best-selling SUV and the sixth best-selling vehicle in America, and it's held these titles for a dozen years. 2004 Ford Explorer Review This car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale

2000 ford taurus review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The basic form of the all-new 2000 taurus is sleek and fresh. The foregoing model's fixation with ovals, ovals, ovals is replaced by an attractive contemporary appearance that confidently leads the way to ford's future.  but the 2000 taurus is more than just a styling exercise. Upgraded powertrains provide vigorous response. Its handling, while suitably smooth and comfortable, delivers a sporting crispness that will satisfy even the aspiring formula 1 driver in the family. The new taurus cabin is functional and attractive, with controls that are straightforward and easy to use. The materials, switchgear and interior textures have a high-quality look and feel. The upscale svg includes anti-lock braking (abs), power driver's seat, 60/40 split fold-down rear seat and dual lighted vanity mirrors. The se comfort adds to this machined five-spoke alloy wheels, leather seating and electronic automatic climate control. But this new model has a more muscular, forceful appearance that sets it apart from earlier renderings. The grille is slightly broader and more aggressive looking than before. The headlights are larger and produce 25-percent brighter low beams, 20-percent brighter high beams. The new car's flanks have handsomely modeled character lines, and the rear bears a resemblance to the mildly controversial stern of the jaguar s-type, applauded by some, found ponderous by others. The new model allows nearly an inch more headroom for front-seat passengers and nearly two inches more headroom in the rear. The rear decklid is higher than before as well, producing 1. 2 additional cubic feet of trunk cargo capacity - 17. 0 cu. The roomy se wagon, with its rear seat down, has space for a maximum of 81. 3 cu. With the seat up.  under the hood, the standard engine in all models except the se comfort sedan is the 12-valve 3. 0-liter vulcan v6, generating 155 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 185 foot-pounds of torque at 4000 rpm. The se comfort is furnished with the high-output, 24-valve 3. 0-liter duratec v6, which delivers 200 horsepower at 5750 rpm and 200 foot-pounds of torque at 4500 rpm. The taurus's well-publicized adjustable pedals make possible a comfortable driving position for even very short-legged drivers. The small-diameter leather-wrapped steering wheel has a pleasingly thick grip. Buttons for manipulating the cruise control are mounted on the steering wheel and are easy to operate. The highly legible dashboard gauges, which include an analog speedometer and tachometer, are white-on-black. A single stalk on the left of the steering column operates the washer and wipers and the bright/dim control for the headlights. The power window automatic-down circuit operates the driver's-side window only, and there is no automatic-up. On the dashboard just below the tachometer is an on/off switch for the se's traction control, useful when driving with chains and/or in snow.  the central console containing audio and (hvac) heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls is an intimidating sea of similar-looking push-buttons and toggle switches. While elsewhere the taurus is ergonomically first rate, operating the controls on this panel requires very careful reading of the various closely spaced buttons. Among the audio controls, only the volume control is a radial knob--it would be more convenient to have the station-tuner a radial knob as well. The removable six-cd changer cassette was cleverly concealed in the center console at the driver's right elbow. This is far more convenient than the remote 12-cd changers commonly hidden in the trunk of other cars. Opening the sunroof required only one touch of the button, whereupon it opened automatically. The cushions and seatbacks are not cushy, but firm seats are usually best on long drives. Each of the se comfort's lighted vanity mirrors in the two front visors features a rheostat for regulating their brightness, a novel touch.  the roomy rear three-place seating includes two semi-buckets and a pull-down central armrest containing two cupholders. An hvac duct at the rear of the center console provides climate control for rear passengers. Dual baby-seat anchors are provided on each side of the rear seat. In the se svg and se comfort, the rear seatback is split 60/40 and folds down, providing an enormous pass-through luggage capability for skis and other long items. The trunk is of generous size and contains the taurus' mini-spare tire. driving impressionwhile the 2000 taurus is rich with interesting features, no list of hardware can sum up this car's greatest strength--its behavior on the road. In the past, the driving manners of the taurus have been utilitarian; it did everything competently but without cause for excitement. And surely, the base lx model maintains that familiar marketing position. After all, ford has had no trouble selling huge numbers of this sedan.  but the 2000 se comfort we tested has an excitingly new personality. This engine not only provides good thrust, it makes an understated but nicely throaty declaration that it means business. Its shifts are positive, authoritative, and at the same time, almost impossible to feel. As a family sedan, the se comfort's gas-pressurized shock absorbers provide a smooth, impact-free ride. Yet when pushed in the corners, the comfort proves stable, nimble and ready for more. Cornered hard, its body roll is moderate, and the nicely tuned variable-ratio power rack-and-pinion steering delivers a steady stream of road-information alerts every step of the way. Braking performance was much smoother than that of the dodge intrepid.  we hate to say it, but in se comfort form, this 2000 taurus family sedan comes uncomfortably close to being a very good mass-produced sports sedan. summarythe 2000 ford taurus is a vastly improved, competent--even exciting--family sedan. We think this new model will prove to be far more popular than the last-generation taurus. model lineuplx sedan 17,695), se sedan 18,745), se wagon 19,900), se svg (special value group) 19,620), se comfort 20,895). assembled inchicago; atl.
